Department of Analytics and Comparative Law

Department of Analytics and Comparative Law of the Supreme Court was established in 2005. Its focus is primarily on analytical and research activities in the field of European and comparative law, for both the Supreme Court‘s decision-making and lower-level courts. These activities include, in particular, the elaboration of analyses from the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights, as well as a comparison of case law and legislative activities in other EU Member States. As regards the cooperation with the judges of the Supreme Court, the Department of Analytics and Comparative Law manages the database of European legislation, preliminary references and the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union in all the areas where the Supreme Court has its jurisdiction.

Furthermore, the Department of Analytics and Comparative Law enables and facilitates an active participation of the Supreme Court in the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the Member States of the European Union, in the European Association of Labour Court Judges and in the European Law Institute.

Finally, the Department of Analytics and Comparative Law cooperates within the platforms created by the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. The Department actively contributes to the activity of the Superior Courts Network which enables better implementation of the European Convention of Human Rights and dialogue with the European Court of Human Rights. In order to exchange information concerning the Law of the European Union, the Department participates also in the Judicial Network of the EU, the platform created under the auspices of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
