The Supreme Court of the Czech Republic will Welcome the Presidents of the European Supreme Courts to a Public Discussion as Part of Night of Law on 18 March 2026
The Supreme Court of the Czech Republic will again actively participate in this year's Night of Law programme as it invites the public to an exceptional discussion with leading figures of European judiciary, which will take place on 18 March 2026 from 5:45 PM to 7:30 PM at the Supreme Court building in Brno. The discussion will be held in English and will be moderated by the Director of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic Aleš Pavel.
The invitation of the President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic Petr Angyalossy to take part in the discussion was kindly accepted by the following esteemed guests:
Mr Donal O’Donnell, Chief Justice of Ireland
Mr Eric de Formanoir de la Cazerie, First President of the Belgian Cour de Cassation
Ms Katerina Stamatiou, President of the Supreme Court of Cyprus
Mr Tatu Leppänen, President of the Supreme Court of Finland
Ms Bettina Limperg, President of the Federal Court of Justice of Germany
Ms Danguolė Bublienė, President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania
Mr Thierry Hoscheit, President of the Cour Supérieure de Justice of Luxembourg
Ms Dineke de Groot, President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands
Mr Anders Eka, President of the Supreme Court of Sweden
Mr Stefano Mogini, Deputy First President of the Supreme Court of Italy
Two topics were chosen for the discussion among the guests and the members of the public:
The length of court proceedings in respective jurisdictions: What can contribute to faster, efficient and quality judiciary?
The communication as a tool for building trust in judiciary. How should the courts communicate with outside world?
President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic Mr Petr Angyalossy will open the discussion with his remarks on one or both topics.
Due to capacity reasons, participation is only possible after prior registration on the main organizer's website: nocprava.cz/program. Without registration, visitors will not be allowed to enter the Court building. Entry to the Supreme Court building will be possible from 5:30 PM to 5:45 PM. All visitors will undergo a security check upon entry.
